Pride in London 2018
The Theme Traders team were both thrilled and extremely honoured to have once again been involved in Pride in London – the UK’s biggest and most diverse Pride. The annual march, which first started in 1972, took place on Saturday 7th July and saw a staggering 30,000 take part with over 1 million spectators watching the colourful parade and it snaked around the capital in the glorious sunshine.
This is the 4th consecutive year Theme Traders have been involved in London Pride and this year our teams produced an impressive 18 participating floats for the parade. Working to a variety of briefs and budgets, our involvement included everything from the vehicles themselves, drivers, co-passengers, wheel walkers, safety scaffolding, AV, sound systems and even generators. Our teams were also tasked with coordinating, fitting and supplying all décor, special effects, entertainment, bespoke costumes and make-up artist requirements for each of the 18 floats.
Creating custom and bespoke experiences is what we live for. Our team were in their element producing innovative, diverse and creative ideas for the 18 floats of which no 2 were the same. This included transforming an 18-tonne truck into a giant unicorn for Deutsche Bank and creating a fabulous high school prom setting for Skinny Dip!
It’s safe to say the teams had immense fun in delivering the floats and it was magical to see them live in action on the day. The atmosphere was electric and it was a real buzz to see the positive reception from the huge waves of crowds. Having produced floats for Pride in London previously, we were elated to once again be approached this year by both returning and new clients, producing our most creative float designs to date! We specialise in innovation, immersive experiences and event management, and were delighted to see our reputation for producing directional concepts that push both creative and logistical boundaries had been recognised.
We very much look forward to Pride in London 2019, our creativity knows no limits. We’re proud to be able to put this to the test by participating in such a diverse and vibrant event which is truly inspiring. Designs for 2019 are already underway, watch this space!
