2018 Event Design and Stylingposted February 18
The greenery event trend is here to stay! With people increasingly focusing on their relationship with the natural world, as well as their own healthy lifestyles and wellbeing, our growing love of all things green is most certainly not over! From full scale tropical jungle experiences to contemporary botanical event styling; over the last year we have created some beautiful plant-based displays. In 2018 we plan to inject a bit of colour into this evergreen theme; styling fresh and luscious greens with iridescent beetles and neon insects!
With Ultra Violet announced as the pantone colour of the year we expect 2018 to be washed in a radiant UV hue. Adding a touch of UV to your event is a sure-fire way to create a magical experience for your guests, whether it involves hints of fluorescent paint in elegant foliage or immersive optical explosions where entire rooms are lit with a dazzling UV glow. This coming year we are hoping to give many of our more traditional themes a new lease of life, with clever design ideas incorporating that essential UV twist! This year we invite you to experience our neon circus, a fluorescent Day of the Dead Halloween, a journey into the radioactive jungle or even a space-age futuristic voyage!
According to the Evening Standard ‘searches for “statement ceilings” are up by 310 per cent this year on Pinterest’ and this is a trend we can certainly look up to for 2018! Many venues we work in have limited space for décor when juggling a high capacity of guests, so often a statement ceiling is the perfect way to transform a room and create a wow factor to enhance any theme. Fabrics, foliage, lanterns, ribbon streamers, floating candles, tennis balls, even the odd bicycle… just some of the items we’ve suspended in the last year. Bring on 2018 and a host of spectacular ceiling installations.
1980s: The decade of the century
One look that has dominated the catwalks for Spring/Summer is the 1980s Throwback: big shoulders, crazy brights, sportswear and loud graphics… the bolder the better! We can’t wait to incorporate this fun style into our event design this year and predict a resurgence in kitsch theming. Bright balloons, slinky ceilings, disco balls, neon lights and flamingos; whether it’s a private party or a corporate affair, this year 80s glam and Club Tropicana is where it’s at!
